This species lives high up in the Andean mountains in Peru and are a larger thumbnail species. They are less territorial than other species of ranitomeya and as such do well in groups. As always care should be taken to observe any aggressive behavior should any frogs need to be separated. This species can vary from shy to bold. They can reach sexual maturity in 6-8 months, but it might take 2 years before they successfully reproduce. They are considered as advance level of care due to the difficulty getting them to reproduce.
